Industry Overview

Industry Overview

The textile industry generates large volumes of wastewater during dyeing, washing, bleaching, printing and finishing processes. This wastewater often contains high concentrations of organic pollutants, color, suspended solids and residual chemicals. Depending on the production process, wastewater characteristics can vary significantly, requiring customized treatment solutions rather than a standard process.

Yutai Environmental provides integrated wastewater treatment solutions for textile manufacturers, helping customers improve discharge compliance, reduce operating costs and increase water reuse opportunities.

Wastewater Characteristics

Common Wastewater Characteristics

  • High COD and BOD
  • Strong color from reactive dyes
  • Suspended solids (SS)
  • High salinity caused by dyeing salts
  • Surfactants and auxiliary chemicals
  • Variable pH during different production stages

The wastewater composition changes according to fabric type, dyeing process and production schedule, making flexible treatment design essential.

Treatment Challenges

Treatment Challenges

  • Reducing high COD to meet discharge standards
  • Removing color efficiently
  • Managing fluctuating wastewater quality
  • Reducing sludge production
  • Improving water reuse rates
  • Lowering long-term operating costs

Selecting the appropriate treatment process depends on both wastewater quality and local discharge regulations.

Recommended Treatment Process

Recommended Treatment Process

  • Equalization Tank
  • Coagulation & Flocculation
  • DAF (when required)
  • Biological Treatment (MBR)
  • RO System (for water reuse if required)
  • Discharge or Reuse

Recommended Solutions

Recommended Solutions

Recommended Equipment

Recommended Equipment

  • Integrated MBR System
  • Reverse Osmosis (RO) System
  • DAF Unit
  • Chemical Dosing System
  • Electrochemical Oxidation System (for specific high-COD applications)

The final equipment selection should always be based on wastewater analysis and project objectives.

FAQ

FAQ

Can MBR remove color from textile wastewater?

MBR mainly removes biodegradable organic pollutants. Color removal may require coagulation, advanced oxidation or other pretreatment depending on the wastewater composition.

Is RO necessary for textile wastewater?

RO is generally recommended when water reuse is required. If the objective is only to meet discharge standards, RO may not always be necessary.

Can high COD textile wastewater be treated biologically?

Many textile wastewaters can be treated biologically after suitable pretreatment. The appropriate process depends on wastewater biodegradability and influent characteristics.
